One Audience Member at a Time
“If you’ve ever felt like taking part in a video game – not playing it, but being in it – The Stranger will excite you.” -Jon Kaplan, Now Magazine (NNNN)
After being presented at the SummerWorks Performance Festival in 2014, invited back as part of the Special Presentation Series 2015, the Vancouver rEvolver festival, travelling to Mumbai (India), Sansepolcro (Italy), The Stranger is back home in Toronto for a brand new iteration before embarking on a world tour in October including Rieti (Italy), New Delhi (India), Berlin (Germany), and Krakow (Poland).
So… what is The Stranger?
The Stranger is not a play, it’s an experience. It transforms a single audience member into performer. It’s an entire show just for you. That’s right, you are the only audience member, and you will interact with an array of characters in the streets and alleys of the downtown core.
How does this work?
You’ve purchased your ticket. You’re standing alone at a busy intersection. Waiting. The streets of your city and the faces that pass by start to look a little different. The city has turned into the stage and you have become the protagonist of an unfolding narrative that blurs the lines between reality and fiction.
Walking and active audience participation is involved.
“[The Stranger] turns your neighbourhood into a playground again… a series of experiences like no other“- Vancouver Presents
